A new date has been set for the submission of proposals for the first international symposium of the Ibero-American Association for Southeast Asian Studies (AIASEAS) and the Timor-Leste Studies Association – Iberoamerica on Timor-Leste and Southeast Asia as fields of reflection: multisituated perspectives, with the support of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid.
The symposium, held in a hybrid format, will take place on 4 September 2026, immediately after the EuroSEAS (European Association for Southeast Asian Studies) conference, with in-person participation at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid, and online.
The call for proposals for panels and individual papers is now open. Proposals must fall within at least one of the following thematic areas:
- 1. Knowledge production, education and research
- 2. Timor-Leste in Southeast Asia: historical and contemporary perspectives
- 3. Development policies, economic and social transformations
- 4. Diasporas, migrations, circulation of people and ideas
- 5. Feminist studies, gender and diversity
- 6. Ecology and climate justice
- 7. Memory, historical justice and reconciliation
- 8. Artistic expressions, heritage and cultural policies
