Camila Tribess
Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and feminist researcher. PhD in Social Sciences from UFBA (2024), with doctoral internship at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) at the University of Coimbra, Portugal (2022). She is part of the ‘Timor-Leste Studies Association’ (TLSA) research group, the ‘Periféricas – Centre for Studies in Social Theories, Modernities and Colonialities’ research group and the ‘Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on Women’ – NEIM, in the field of Science, Gender and Education, both at UFBA. She was a CAPES professor in the Portuguese Language Teacher Qualification Programme (PQLP), in international cooperation in Timor-Leste, where she worked as a professor at the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL). Based on her experience and studies in Timor-Leste, she has academic publications and ongoing research on the political history of that country, the decolonisation process and the impact of education on gender equality. She works academically, professionally and socially for democratic education aligned with gender equality. Her thesis entitled ‘Towards a buibere pedagogy: the political and diplomatic role of women in Timor-Leste’ received the UFBA award for best doctoral thesis in Human Sciences in 2024.
